It has been estimated that 20% of the heparin dose is administered to the lungs by this method using Anderson cascade impactor (data on file). Nebulised Heparin Sodium 25;000 IU will be delivered using air or oxygen three times a day (TDS); daily for up to 21 days; or until the patient has no respiratory symptoms. The mode of delivery (via mask; mouthpiece or spacer) will be chosen by the clinical team depending on the patient\u00e2??s needs for oxygen and ventilatory support.
